Shomen Kundu
PhD Aspirant | Lecturer, BRAC University | BSc at EEE, BUET
I am a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University and a PhD aspirant with research interests in nanoelectronics and quantum device physics. I completed my undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Electronics and Photonics major) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), where I built a strong foundation in semiconductor device physics and nanoscale modeling.
My undergraduate thesis focused on the design and simulation of ultrascaled 2D-material-based FETs for sub-5 nm technology nodes using DFT and NEGF-based simulations. Under the supervision of Prof. Md. Kawsar Alam, this work resulted in a peer-reviewed publication in IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, providing physical insights into performance enhancement through underlayer modulation.
In addition to my research, I have experience in both industry and academia. I previously worked as a Trainee Analog Design Engineer at Ulkasemi Pvt. Limited and am currently teaching electronic devices and VLSI design as a lecturer, mentoring undergraduate students through laboratory and project-based learning. My long-term goal is to pursue a research-oriented academic career in nanoelectronics and emerging quantum devices.
My research focuses on the computational design and modeling of ultrascaled nanoelectronic devices based on 2D materials, using DFT and NEGF frameworks to explore next-generation transistor and quantum device architectures.
Tools: QuantumATK, Material Studio | Methods: DFT, NEGF | Focus: 2D FETs, nanoelectronics, quantum devices
